Canadian Pontiac Summer Tour 8/22/10

Hi There Canadian Pontiac Specialty Chapter Members of Southern Ontario,

Here’s the plan, all Canadian Poncho boys and girls. Mark off August 22nd now for a nice Sunday morning cruise and get together.

Destination: HMCS Haida National Historic Site Park, Pier 9 – Hamilton Ontario

http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/lhn-nhs/on/haida/index.aspx

Time: Meet and Greet at parking area in park at 10:30 am to 10:45 am

Tour Ship: Approx. 11:00 am

Lunch Time: Approx 12 noon

Mode of Transportation : Old Pontiacs, Acadians, Beaumonts & GMC’s plus any other classic or even late model car. (We just want to meet and have good day)

We have been trying for a while to have a gathering so here’s your chance, right in the Golden Horseshoe of Ontario, rich in Canadian Poncho fanatics. What better place for a bunch of old Pontiacs to gather than at the site of the only surviving WWII Tribal Class Destroyer, the “Fightingest ship in the Canadian Navy” to this day.

Group tours are available but we need to get support first, cost is minimal, $3.90 for adults less for seniors and children. It is about one hour drive from London and Toronto so we are hoping for a good turnout.

Lets see how many participants we get before we firm up details, but we might want to have convoys converging on the site from all directions, I suppose we could have Corvette escorts too in keeping with the theme. Picnic tables are available on the jetty which is grassed and treed so we might want to pack a picnic lunch or decide on a restaurant. This can all be decided in due course.

Right now let’s see who is interested, so let us know by return e-mail. I have posted this on http://www.canadianponcho.ca  as I know members who are regulars on there and 12 people are in so far. I have limited the notice to members within approximately one and a half hours driving distance to Hamilton as well.

We had a super day with 11 cars and 25 people attending. We had a great tour of the ship thanks to our guide Darryl and picnic style lunch in the Gazebo. Members came from Oshawa, Toronto, London, Ingersol and Buffalo. Watch for a story in the next Astro News Flash!
