“Pontiac’s total 1996 model-year production was 579,360 vehicles including 2,345 Firefly models and 420 Sunrunner models. This includes units manufactured in Canada and other countries that were intended for distribution in the U.S. General Motors merged its Pontiac and GMC division in 1996 to create the Pontiac-GMC Division with 3,736 franchised dealers, Roy S. Roberts was appointed general manager of the new division.”

“The 1996 Firebirds were a member of a dwindling breed: the rear-wheel-drive American muscle car. There were 7,981 Trans Am hardtops and 917 Trans Am convertibles produced.”
