From the “Standard Catalog of Pontiac 1926-1995” by John Gunnell and Ron Kowalke

“Borrowing the construction treatment utilized by the Fiero, which was canceled two years previously, Pontiac unveiled the Trans Sport minivan built of composite materials on a space frame substructure. It was based on an exciting ‘concept vehicle’ that Pontiac built and exhibited in 1986. Trans Sport and Grand Prix models were now sold in Europe.”

“Pontiac sales of 636,390 cars and 29,875 minivans for a total of 666,265 vehicles will represent 13.5 percent of General Motors’ 1990 light vehicle sales (number two behind Chevrolet).”
