“There was a 20th Anniversary Edition of the Firebird Trans Am ‘Indy Pace Car’ version of the GTA with a high-output V-6 pirated from the Buick GNX.”

“Pontiac’s new HUD instrumentation was available only as standard equipment on Turbo Grand Prix.

“PMD had an active motorsports program in 1989. After finishing third in the Winston Cup manufacturer’s championship in 1988 (only five points behind the winner) Pontiac was looking forward to the 1989 NASCAR/Winston Cup series with great anticipation. Those returning to drive Pontiac Grand Prixs included Rusty Wallace , Richard Petty, Michael Waltrip, Morgan Shepard and others (there was a total of 17 drivers using Pontiacs).”
