From John Gunnell’s book “75 Years of Pontiac Oakland“:
“The 1977 model year turned out good for Pontiac. It brought important change and several exciting new models. Total output reached 911,050 vehicles.”
“An attractive option for the LeMans-Sport Coupe was the mid-year special-interest offering called the Can Am. Not only did it come on just the one model…. it came only on cars with the louvered window design. Standard as part of the package were Cameo White body color; Grand Prix instrument panel assembly with Rally gauges and clock; Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission (only); power front disc brakes with rear drums; Rally RTS suspensions; body-color Rally II wheels; full width deck spoiler with tri-tone accent stripe (and more).”
Special Edition Trans Ams were also available this year, a.k.a .”Smokey and the Bandit” editions..
