1972 Pontiac

From John Gunnell’s book “75 Years of Pontiac Oakland“”

PMD achieved fifth slot in the production race trailing Chevrolet, Ford and Oldsmobile margins and Plymouth only by a hair. If labor problems would not have erupted, Pontiac would have placed fourth (there was a 174-day strike in the Lordstown, Ohio assembly plant).”

“Muscle cars seemed to be disappearing throughout the industry. In June, Motor Trend included the GTO in an article entitled “Sayonora Supercar”. The Goat was no longer a separate series, but returned to its original status as an option package for the LeMans.”

“Totally new for 1972 as a series was the Luxury LeMans with a unique grille, chrome-plated front valance panel; lower body side molding in place of rocker trim; fender skirts and a number of other beauty touches.”

  1. This acr came with a 454CI V-8, Positrac Rearend, 400 TH, 3 speed automatic transmission. It was as fast as the GTO for my money, and more comfortable with class.. I am looking for one now. This was a car from my youth. They don’t make em like this anymore.
