From John Gunnell’s book “75 Years of Pontiac Oakland

“Styling changes were the big news from Pontiac for 1949. The all-new cars had lower, sleeker envelope bodies with sweeping rooflines and front fenders flush with the doors. (1949 saw) the introduction of the first domestic Pontiac truck since the 1920’s. It was a Station Wagon-based Sedan Delivery, available only with standard trim. This relatively low-slung commercial vehicle was listed as a Streamliner (Style Number 2571) and 2,488 were made. All 1949 Pontiacs were built on a 120-inch wheelbase.”

“Pontiac sold 21.2 percent of all cars in its price range this year.”
