From John Gunnell’s book “75 Years of Pontiac Oakland“:

“By the Spring of 1945, the company was beginning preparations for postwar operations that everyone hoped would be coming very soon. Pontiac was advertising, through local dealerships, to promote the hiring of returning veterans and had even instituted a Mechanic Recruiting Campaign. By May of the year, 94 new Service Craftsmen had joined the company. It appeared obvious to all that the demand for reliable Silver Steak Pontiacs would be very high, when the fighting was finally over.”
