From John Gunnell’s 75 Years of Pontiac Oakland:

“Introduced during January, 1929, was the “New Big SIx” Pontiac line, also identified as the 6-29 series.

On March 8, 1929 the millionth Oakland was built. During April, the 500,000 Pontiac rolled off the assembly line at the “Daylight” factory.

By the end of 1929, Pontiac ranked 5th in industry sales while Oakland rated 21st of the 33 makers.”
